Of the new political war

Okay, first of all, Geraldo Rivera, if you can hear me, you can go eff yourself.

That off my chest, I will now rant about illegal immigrants. The recent murders in New Jersey, committed by an illegal who was not (obviously) deported for his previous crime (the rape of a 5-year-old child), have left this country stunned, and shown what the new political hot-button issue is. It isn't abortion any longer, it's illegal immigration.

In my opinion, as a tax-paying American citizen, all illegal immigrants should either become citizens the right way, through channels, or should be sent packing. Period. I do not care that they risked life and limb to hide in a van coming across the border. I do not care how many children they have managed to birth on American soil. They should become citizens or leave.

Yeah, I can hear the argument already--"but we're ALL immigrants!" Duh. No freaking kidding. Thank you, Captain Obvious. But my ancestors did not sneak across the border from Mexico. They came through channels, they emigrated to this country, they were not--and I cannot stress this enough--THEY WERE NOT ILLEGALS!

Geraldo Rivera thinks all illegals should be given every right we can hand out. Not hard to see why he's biased in this direction, now is it?

And notice--you don't see Canadians sneaking across the borders, now do you? No, they come legally, they go through the legal process. Just as my own ancestors did.

I fail to see why America must pay for the fact that the Mexican government cannot take care of its own people. I fail to see why we should be forced to accept people who cannot stand up for themselves and change their own government. Seems to me if Mexico wants freedom and dignity and a decent health care system, they should try cleaning up their own back yard rather than demanding that we rescue them.

And as for that sick twisted bastard of a killer--I sincerely hope he doesn't fall through the cracks in our legal system again. I hope he finally gets what's coming to him. And yeah, I know, the killer's from Peru, not Mexico. My point still stands, and I completely agree with Michelle Malkin on this one.
