Holy Thursday/Maundy Thursday
This is from the BBC, and is a good general overview of what today signifies. The washing of the feet, when Jesus took on the role of the lowest of the low, seems fitting when I think of Terri Schindler Schiavo--who is there to wash her, to bathe her, to bring her hope? And again, the Garden of Gethsemane, when Jesus prayed that the cup of death would pass him by, and then accepted the kiss of Judas on his cheek.
Michael Schiavo, have you kissed Terri on the cheek? Because I can hear the soldiers' feet, I can hear them drawing their swords--see them there, Michael? They've come at your behest, ready and willing to hand over the innocent for crucifixion. Oh, and Michael, don't be fooled by the disciples running away--they'll be back, they'll spread the word of what happened in this garden on this night, this secretive little back-alley deal, and the news of it will reach every corner of the globe. Your darkness won't win, Michael...
