NAIROBI (AFP) - Denmark has agreed to grant Kenya 1.4 billion shillings (about 17.3 million dollars) to support environmental programmes, Environment Minister Kalonzo Musyoka said.
The funds will be disbursed from January 2006 over a period of four years, Musyoka said in a statement.
The programmmes include revitalizing "the role of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) in environmental management and by extension ensure that Kenyans live in a clean and safe environment," he added.
NEMA is a state-run body charged with managing and protecting the environment.
